Caesars Surges 71% in Trading Debut

Caesars Entertainment Corp., the U.S. casino chain with more than $22 billion in debt, jumped 71 percent in its trading debut after completing an initial public offering a fraction of the size of its failed 2010 effort.
The stock rose to $15.39 as of 4 p.m. New York time, valuing Caesars at $1.92 billion. The price almost doubled earlier in the day, tripping circuit breakers, while the volume was more than six times the number of shares sold in the offering. Caesars raised $16.3 million selling less than 2 percent of its shares at $9 each.
Man faces NY extradition hearing in Vegas fraud

Vegas resident picked up at the U.S.-Canadian border on securities fraud charges is being held for extradition from upstate New York.
Mark Jones was indicted in Nevada in 2010 on charges he accepted investments totaling $130,000 on behalf of bogus charities purporting to help Native Americans. The Buffalo News ( http://bit.ly/yzX71c) reported last week that Jones was supposed to go on trial last November but never showed up.

Vegas Sands to Make $800 Million Dividend Payment

Vegas Sands Corp. on Wednesday announced its first-ever dividend as growth in Asia, reflected in the casino operator’s strong fourth-quarter earnings, helped turnaround a company that three years ago was close to bankruptcy. The company said it would distribute around $800 million, or $1 per share, over the course of the next year. Chief Executive Sheldon Adelson is likely to receive at least around $343 million of that, according to the latest records of his ownership position.
Vegas Review-Journal Endorses Mitt Romney

Nevada’s largest newspaper is endorsing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney ahead of Saturday’s GOP presidential caucus in the state. The Las Vegas Review-Journal, in its Sunday editions, says the race for the Republican presidential nomination is down to Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
But the newspaper says Romney best represents the party and has the best chance to defeat President Barack Obama.

Vegas airport tops 41M passengers in 2011

Fueled by increased international flights, McCarran International Airport handled almost 41.5 million passengers in 2011, an increase of 1.7 million people compared with 2010, airport administrators said Friday.
Traffic on commercial flights by 16 airlines using the airport’s international terminal increased 13.8 percent compared with 2010, the Clark County Department of Aviation said.
